Today begins a series of blogs on getting started with cross stitch.
Cross stitch is one of the oldest forms of hand embroidery possibly because it is so easy to learn but also because cross stitching is so absorbing. More often that I admit to, I will pull out a current cross stitch project at the end of the day to recharge my mental focus.

As its name suggests, it's composed of stitches that form an X. While most cross stitch is still completed on specific cross stitch fabric, many people are switching it up to use regular fabric, paper, wood, or more.
.
Cross stitch is used to display as its own design, to add elements to other hand embroidery, or to add accents to clothing, bedding, or more.
.
Cross stitch is sold in complete kits which contain everything you need to get started. You may also purchase a separate cross stitch pattern then grab the supplies to finish your pattern. And, of course, you can also create your own cross stitch design (more on that in another blog).
.
Stay tuned for more on choosing your cross stitch fabric, selecting embroidery threads, and much, much more.
